Waste Disposal

Engine oil, batteries, hydraulic fluid, and engine coolant are
pollutants to the environment. Dispose of these according to
your local regulations.
When disposing of hazardous waste products, take them to an
authorized disposal site. Waste products must not be allowed
to contaminate surface water, drains or sewage systems.
CAUTION
Dispose of hazardous substances correctly.
• Do not dispose of batteries with a separate
collection mark into general waste.
• When disposing of hazardous waste products,
take them to an authorized disposal site.

Storage

Preparing the Traction Unit

1. Thoroughly clean the traction unit, cutting unit, and
engine.
2. Check the tire pressure.
3. Check all fasteners for looseness and tighten them as
necessary.
4. Grease all grease fittings and pivot points. Wipe up
any excess lubricant.
5. Lightly sand and use touch-up paint on painted areas
that are scratched, chipped, or rusted.
6. Service the battery and cables as follows:
A. Remove the battery terminals from the battery
posts.
B. Clean the battery, terminals, and posts with a wire
brush and baking soda solution.
C. Coat the cable terminals and battery posts with
Grafo 112X skin-over grease (Toro Part No.
505-47) or petroleum jelly to prevent corrosion.
D. Slowly charge the battery every 60 days for 24
hours to prevent lead sulfation of the battery.

Preparing the Engine

1. Drain the engine oil from the oil pan and replace the
drain plug.
2. Remove and discard the oil filter. Install a new oil filter.
3. Refill the oil pan with designated quantity of motor oil.
4. Start the engine and run it at idle speed for
approximately 2 minutes.
5. Shut off the engine.
6. Thoroughly drain all fuel from the fuel tank, lines, and
the fuel filter/water separator assembly.
7. Flush the fuel tank with fresh, clean diesel fuel.
8. Secure all fuel system fittings.
9. Thoroughly clean and service the air-cleaner assembly.
10. Seal the air-cleaner inlet and the exhaust outlet with
weatherproof tape.
11. Check the antifreeze protection and add as needed for
expected minimum temperature in your area.
