The refrigerant condenses from gas to liquid when it is cooled by the extract air. The refrigerant passes the pressure reducing expansion valve and undergoes a phase transformation in the evaporator from liquid to gas (the refrigerant evaporates).

They should also protect sensitive components inside the unit, e.g. water coils and heat exchangers, from exposure to impurities.

The filter is a knitted flat- type filter. The aluminium filter can be cleaned using hot water and a mild alka- line detergent.

Faults in counter-flow exchanger functionality reduce recovery efficiency and increase energy consumption.
