This document explains how to begin using the National Instruments
4350/4351 (NI 435X) high-precision data acquisition (DAQ) temperature
and voltage meters for PCMCIA, USB, PCI, and PXI/CompactPCI buses.
The following conventions are used in this document:
The » symbol leads you through nested menu items and dialog box options
to a final action. The sequence File»Page Setup»Options directs you to
pull down the File menu, select the Page Setup item, and select Options
from the last dialog box.
The ♦ symbol indicates that the following text applies only to a specific
product, a specific operating system, or a specific software version.
This icon denotes a note, which alerts you to important information.
This icon denotes a caution, which advises you of precautions to take to
avoid injury, data loss, or a system crash. When this symbol is marked on
the product, refer to the Read Me First: Safety and Radio-Frequency
Interference document, shipped with the product, for precautions to take.

as menu items and dialog box options. Bold text also denotes parameter

    Power off the computer and, depending upon the device type, install the NI 435X following the instructions in this section. You can plug in the NI PCMCIA-4350 and NI USB-4350 at any time after the Note drivers are installed without powering off the computer.

    To protect both yourself and the computer from electrical hazards, do not power Caution on the computer until you finish installing the NI PCI-4351. Remove the top cover or access port to the PCI bus. Select any available PCI expansion slot. Locate the metal bracket that covers the cut-out in the back panel of the chassis for the slot you selected.
