AIRPLANE INSPECTION
PERIODS
FAA REOUIRED INSPECTIONS
As required
by
Federal
Aviation
Regulations, all
civil
aircraf,t
of
U.s.
registry must undergo
a
complete
inspection (annual) eachtwelve
calend-
ar-mo.rths.
In
addition
to the
required ANNUAL inspection, aircraft
operated
commercially (for hire) must have
a
complete
inspection every
100
hours of operation.
The
FAA may require other inspections
by
the
issuance
of
airworthi-
ness
directives applicable to the airplane,
engine,
propeller
and compo-
nents.
It is the responsibility
of
the
owner/operatorto
ensure
compliance
with all applicable airworthiness directives
and,
when
the
inspections
are
repetitive,
to take
appropriate steps
to
prevent inadvertent
noncom-
pliance.
In lieu
of the
100
HOUR
and
ANNUAL inspection requirements,
an
airplane may
be
inspected
in
accordance
with
a
progressive inspection
schedule,
which allows
the
work
load
to
be
divided into smaller operations
that
can
be
accomplished
in
shorter time periods.
