Symptom:

*SEAT BELT INDICATOR NOT OPERATING PROPERLY

SEAT BELT SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
SEAT BELT SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT OPEN
SEAT BELT SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN
SEAT BELT SWITCH
SEAT BELT SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
TEST
1
Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII
buckling and unbuckling the Seat Belt.
Does the DRBIII
unbuckled?
Yes → Go To 2
→ Go To 3
No

Turn the ignition off.
Perform the Instrument Cluster Self Test while observing the Seat Belt Indicator.
Did the Seat Belt Indicator illuminate during the Self Test?
Yes → Test Complete.
→ Replace the Instrument Cluster in accordance with the Service
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C2 harness connector.
Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
NOTE: Ensure that the Seat Belt is buckled.
Measure the voltage between the Seat Belt Switch Sense circuit and ground.
Is there any voltage present?
Yes → Repair the Seat Belt Switch Sense circuit for a short to voltage.
→ Go To 4
No

Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Seat Belt Switch harness connector.
Disconnect the Instrument Cluster C2 harness connector.
Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
Measure the resistance between ground and the Seat Belt Switch Sense circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes → Repair the Seat Belt Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground.
→ Go To 5
No
POSSIBLE CAUSES
ACTION
in Inputs/Outputs, read the Driver Belt Switch state while
display Open while the belt is buckled and Closed while
Information.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.
