Specimen Preparation

Specimens are normally mounted in a manner to provide protection to critical edges and to provide a
means of connection to the Load Arm. The MiniMet 1000 will accept standard format mounts in 1" (25
mm), 1¼" (32 mm), and 1½" (38 mm) diameter.
Use of the MiniMet 1000 requires a
specimen and ¼" (6.4 mm) from the specimen face. This hole provides attachment to the Load Arm to
transmit motion and pressure to the specimen.
The 69-1550 Sample Alignment Fixture is highly recommended to ensure correct hole depth and location.

General Preparation Method

This general method can be applied to preparation of many material types. Refer to Buehler's
SumMet™ Guide (www.Buehler.com/eClub) for material-specific preparation details. SumMet
methods can be adapted for use with the MiniMet.
