Warning indicators and messages

If indicators and messages appear in the viewfinder or the display window, check the following:
See the page in parentheses "( )" for more information.
Warning indicators
The battery is dead or nearly
dead
Slow flashing:
•The battery is nearly dead.
Fast flashing:
•The battery is dead (p. 14).
•The battery is completely dead,
and cannot be recharged.
Depending on conditions, the E
indicator may flash, even if there
are 5 to 10 minutes remaining.
Warning indicator as to tape
Slow flashing:
•The tape is near the end.
•No tape is inserted (p. 20).*
•The write-protect tab on the
cassette is out (red) (p. 20).*
Fast flashing:
•The tape has run out (p. 20, 33).*
The lithium battery is weak or
is not installed (p. 80)
Warning messages
• CLOCK SET
• For "InfoLITHIUM"
BATTERY ONLY
CLEANING CASSETTE
• START/STOP KEY
• ORC
* You hear the melody or beep sound.

Slow flashing:
•You need to clean the heads using the Sony V8-25CLD
cleaning cassette (not supplied) (p. 94).
Reset the date and time (p. 75).
Use an "InfoLITHIUM" battery pack (p. 18).
