D. Checking Tire
Pressure

Check both front and rear
tires for proper air pressure
with an accurate tire
gauge.
The front tire should be
be-
tween 22 and 23
psi.
The
rear tire should be at 28
psi.
Add or bleed air as
neces-
sary.

Making Running Checks
A. Starting the Engine
1. Turn the
fuel
petcock lever
to
0
.
2.
Pull the
starter lever
up.

Kick down on
the kick
pedal quickly
and
smooth-
ly.
Keep the
accelerator
grip closed
wh
ile you do
this.

When
the engine is run
-
ning. push in the starter
lever.

B. Checking the Trans-
mission Oil
1.
Let the engine idle for
about 10
minutes.
then
turn
it
off.

.
Unscrew the dipstick and
wipe
it
clean.
Check the
oil level.
If it is not
be-
tween the
two
marks.
add
or
drain oil
as
necessary.
Note
When
checking
the
oil
level.
don't screw
the
dip-
stick
in.
Just press it
against
the
filler
hole
boss.

Screw in the
dipstick.
