Yamaha has met these standards without reducing the performance or economy of operation of the motorcycle. To maintain these high standards, it is important that you and your Yamaha dealer pay close attention to the recommended maintenance schedules and operating instructions contained within this manual.
This manual should be considered a permanent part of this motorcycle and should remain with it even if the motorcycle is subsequently sold. Yamaha continually seeks advancements in product design and quality. Therefore, while this manual contains the most current product information available at the time of printing, there may be minor discrepancies between your motorcycle and this manual.

MOTORCYCLE CARE AND STORAGE Care While the open design of a motorcycle reveals the attractiveness of the tech- nology, it also makes it more vulnera- ble. Rust and corrosion can develop even if high-quality components are used. A rusty exhaust pipe may go un- noticed on a car, however, it detracts from the overall appearance of a motor- cycle.

After normal use Remove dirt with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft, clean sponge, and then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Use a toothbrush or bottlebrush for hard-to-reach areas. Stubborn dirt and insects will come off more easily if the area is covered with a wet cloth for a few minutes before cleaning.
Avoid using abrasive polishing compounds as they will wear away the paint. NOTE: Consult a Yamaha dealer for advice on what products to use. ECA10800 Storage Short-term Always store your motorcycle in a cool, dry place and, if necessary, protect it against dust with a porous cover.

4. Lubricate all control cables and the pivoting points of all levers and pedals as well as of the side- stand/centerstand. 5. Check and, if necessary, correct the tire air pressure, and then lift the motorcycle so that both of its wheels are off the ground.
