ESCRIPTION OF
SMC's TigerSwitch™ Gigabit Extender Module provides a Gigabit
fiber port that can be used for a high-speed backbone or server
connection.
The SMC6724L2GSSC contains one 1000BASE-SX multimode fiber
port that can be connected to a site up to 550 m (1805 ft) away.
The SMC6724L2GLSC contains one 1000BASE-LX single-mode fiber
port that can be connected to a site up to 5 km (16,404 ft) away.

Gigabit Port LEDs

The switch's front panel provides LEDs that indicate the presence
of modules installed in the rear-panel slots. Port status LEDs are
also provided on the front of the switch for "at-a-glance" network
monitoring. The following table details the indicator functions
provided by the module.
