System requirements
You will require:
u
a PC with at least 466 MHz and one of the following operating systems:
Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP
u
a minimum of 64 MB RAM is recommended
u
at least 30 MB free hard disk space
u
a free USB port
u
a CD-ROM drive or a DVD drive
Wireless LAN Basics
To set up a wireless network (ad-hoc network), you will require a wireless network
adapter for each PC you want to connect to the network, for example a Gigaset USB
Adapter 54, Gigaset PC Card 54 or Gigaset PCI Card 54.
To set up a network with wireless and wired components (infrastructure network)
and with Internet access, you will also need an Access Point, e.g. the
Siemens Gigaset SE505 dsl/cable wireless router.
To set up the network in infrastructure mode:
1. First install the Gigaset USB Adapter 54 in a PC.
2. Then install the Access Point. This is described in the operating instructions for the
device in question.
3. Then set up the connection from the Gigaset USB Adapter 54 to the Access Point.
4. You can then connect other wireless PCs if you wish.

When installing the Gigaset USB Adapter 54, make sure that the SSID
(Service Set ID) for all wireless network components is identical.
