Place the Battery Charger and the Battery in a clean, dry, stable, well ventilated area. The

Charger should be as far away from the battery as the DC output cables (23, 24) permit.

If charging the battery while in the vehicle, leave the hood open. Remove the positive (Red)

battery cable from the vehicle battery before attaching charger cables. The charger should be

in a stable location as far away from the battery as the DC output cables (23, 24) permit. Be

sure the ignition key is in the "OFF" position.

If the battery being charged is not a maintenance-free battery, unscrew and remove the cell

caps and, if needed, fill each cell according to the battery manufacturer's recommendations

with distilled water. Replace the cell caps but do not tighten. Caps must be left loose to allow

gas buildup to escape.

With the Battery Charger unplugged, connect the negative (black) Cable Clamp (23) to the

negative terminal of the battery.

Connect the positive (red) Cable Clamp (24) to the positive terminal of the battery.

Determine the Amphour capacity of the battery from the battery labels.

Refer to the Table below and find the amphour charge requirement of the battery, and the

battery voltage. Set the Current knob to the required current (1-6).

The top row of the Table will give the Current Setting (1-6) for charging. For example: If the

battery capacity is 80 Ah and the voltage is 12, then the set the Current knob to 6. Set the Volt

switch to 12. If the battery being charged, has a higher amphour charge requirement then

listed on the Reference Table, set the Current Knob to the highest setting (6).
