hazardous voltages and currents inside the chassis; they contain electromagnetic interference (EMI) that
might disrupt other equipment; and they direct the flow of cooling air through the chassis. Do not operate the
system unless all cards, faceplates, front covers, and rear covers are in place.
Step 11
Warning
extra-low voltage (SELV) circuits. SELV circuits should be connected only to other SELV circuits. Because
the DSL circuits are treated like telephone-network voltage, avoid connecting the SELV circuit to the
telephone network voltage (TNV) circuits.
1.1.2 Software Configuration for SLCs
Software configuration for new SLCs is performed using either the Cisco 6200 Manager software (a
graphical user interface (GUI) management application) or the command line interface (CLI) to the
Cisco 6200. See the User Guide for the Cisco 6200 Manager for instructions on using the GUI.
This section explains how to use CLI commands to configure the SLC interfaces on a Cisco 6200
system. You can follow these steps before or after you insert the SLC into its slot in the chassis.

Cisco 6200 FRU Installation and Replacement
When a card is inserted, the green POWER LED on its faceplate turns on. The card
performs an internal confidence test. Each card's READY LED turns on when the card
successfully completes its test.
Install blank faceplates to cover any unused slots in the chassis. Like cards, faceplates are
each held in place by two retaining screws.
Blank faceplates and cover panels serve three important functions: they prevent exposure to
How to proceed:
If you installed an NTC, do the following:
— Attach the appropriate trunk cable to the port on the faceplate.
— You may wish to monitor and manage the NTC using the Cisco 6200 Manager
software, a graphical user interface (GUI) management application. In order to
use the GUI to manage the NTC, you must provision the NTC in the GUI. See the
User Guide for the Cisco 6200 Manager for instructions on using the GUI.
You can also use the command line interface (CLI) to monitor and manage the
NTC. For the CLI, no configuration of the NTC is required.
If you installed an MPC, do the following:
— Attach the console cable to the CNSL port on the faceplate.
— If you are using Ethernet for out-of-band management of the Cisco 6200, attach
an Ethernet cable to the ENET port on the faceplate.
— Skip to the "Additional Steps for MPC Replacement" section on page 6.
If you installed an SLC, do the following:
— Proceed to the "Software Configuration for SLCs" section, below.
— Connect a cable to the appropriate subscriber port or dangler cable on the rear of
the chassis. See the "Installing Dangler Cables on the Cisco 6200" section on
page 12.
The ports labeled "Ethernet," "ENET," "ETH1," "ETH2," "CNSL," and "Serial Port" are safety
