SSD is a separate storage pool from SAS and SATA drives.
• Consider drive data mirroring and drive sizes when combining nodes.
• Scale offers 1 GbE and 10 GbE network connections depending on the node series; it is important to
remember that a system running this combination is always going to be bottlenecked by the 1 GbE
connections, and the different nodes will require different cable and switch hardware. It is not advisable
to combine 1 GbE and 10 GbE nodes in a single HC3 system.
• When using the SNS configuration please keep in mind that there is no VM failover available. This means
that any maintenance, node failure, or HyperCore firmware update will necessitate downtime.

Pre-Installation Checklist

You will need the following equipment and information available and/or configured prior to the scheduled
installation time:
• Scheduling
• Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the HC3 System Quickstart web page for installation
day. This will be the easiest documentation to follow for the installation process and also includes
additional resources and videos for information on your new HC3 system. You can find it here.
• Ensure you have access to the Scale Computing Customer and/or Partner Portal. Credentials should
be emailed to all users on the account with Scale Computing within 24 hours of product shipment.
If you haven't received credentials within that time frame you can sign up manually by selecting New
User? under the appropriate Portal from this
When you first log into the Scale Computing Portal be sure to fill out your "My Profile"
The selected time zone in your profile will help to determine scheduling availability for
your installation. Contact ScaleCare Support if you need assistance accessing the Portal or

• A standard VGA monitor and USB keyboard to hook to the nodes for configuration
• A KVM may be used but is not recommended for initial configuration
• A machine local to the HC3 system network for HC3 web interface access after configuration
