If you have a Raytheon Autopilot 4000 or 5000 (with compass) and a Raytheon
active compass, we recommend that you configure your system as follows:
• Ensure the active compass is re-wired to provide heading data on NMEA.
• Provide 12V power to the active compass.
• Connect the active compass to the NMEA input of your 10" CRT display.
• Enable Bridge NMEA Heading in the CRT display System Set Up menu.
• Calibrate the autopilot's compass (as described in the autopilot Owner's
Handbook) with the 10" CRT display switched OFF.
• Manually calibrate the NMEA compass with the 10" CRT display switched
ON as described in the section Calibrating the ST80 Active Compass.
Note that both compasses are linearised and aligned. When the radar is ON, the
SeaTalk heading from the CRT display takes precedence in the autopilot; when
the CRT display is switched off, the autopilot uses the locally connected
compass. If the two compasses are mismatched, the autopilot heading will
change when the radar is switched on/off
