    BOUT THE UIDE This guide is for IngMar Medical’s Ventilator Interface Kit (hereafter called VIK). It is an add-on to the RespiSim® System which includes the ASL 5000™ Breathing Simulator. The guide includes details for physical setup as well as installing the software. It is recommended that you read this carefully before using the equipment. V.V Conventions Used in This Manual Indicates points of particular interest or emphasis for more efficient or convenient operation. ARNING Indicates a potentially harmful condition that can lead to personal injury. CAUTION Indicates a condition that may lead to equipment damage or malfunction AFETY ONSIDERATIONS Z.V Operator Safety For correct and effective use of the product it is mandatory to read and to observe all instructions, WARNINGS, and CAUTION statements in this guide. If the product is not used as instructed, the safety protection provided may be impaired. ARNING Electromagnetic Interference: Do not use the VIK in patient rooms or other areas where life supporting equipment is in use.

    VIK NTRODUCTION TO THE ^.V System Overview The VIK is an accessory intended to be used when connecting ventilators to the ASL 5000™. The VIK provides a one-way communications link from a variety of ventilators to the RespiSim® system. The information from the ventilator can populate the RespiSim software via control module and the appropriate dongle for the ventilator.     4 VIK ETUP The VIK add-on is controlled by the RespiSim® software by calling an array of available parameters to be populated in the RespiSim user interface. `.V VIK Components The VIK includes the following components • Main module with three (3) connection ports • USB power adapter (5.25V 2.4A max) • Ethernet cable • USB to Serial adapter • Ventilator dongle kit including USB drive with software Figure 4-1: VIK Components...

    `.Z VIK Connection to the RespiSim System These instructions assume the VIK is being installed in an existing RespiSim® System. Figure 4-2: SBLVM / ASL 5000 Connection 1. Apply a strip of Velcro to the back side of the VIK module and place in the cart next to the router 2. Connect the black 1’ ethernet cable from the VIK Ethernet port to a numbered port on the router 3. Connect the USB end of the blue/yellow adapter into the VIK bottom USB port 4. Connect the 15’ Ethernet cable to the other end of the blue/yellow adapter. Route the other end of this cable through the back of the tray and loop with Velcro to the side of the cart (for connection to the ventilators) 5. Plug the USB-micro power adapter into the power strip on the cart and route the power cable into the drawer and into the VIK controller...

    `.^ VIK Software Setup The VIK includes a USB drive which holds the following required software packages: • Chrome browser (check online for latest version of the Google Chrome browser) • RTServerSetup.exe 1. Plug the VIK USB drive into the RespiSim® System computer 2. If Google Chrome is not already installed, install the Chrome Browser from the USB drive (Chrome is the recommended browser to use with the VIK installation) 3. Open the VIK folder in the USB drive 4. Double-click the RTServerSetup to install the RT-Server 5. Open the Chrome browser 6. Navigate to http://localhost (type this in the browser address bar) Figure 4-3: VIK Sign In Screen 7. Type manager in the User name field and type ingmar in the Password field 8. On the next screen, click the Admin dropdown in the top right corner of the screen, then click Bridges Figure 4-4: VIK Bridge Setup Page...

From the RespiSim VIK case, find the appropriate dongle for the ventilator to be used and plug it into the appropriate port on the ventilator Figure 4-9: Example Dongle for Ventilator 15. Power on the ventilator 16. Connect the Ethernet cable from the VIK controller to the dongle 17. Open the Chrome browser 18. Navigate to http://localhost 19. Enter manager as the User name and ingmar as the Password and then click the “Sign In” button. 20. On the following screen, click on the Admin dropdown, then click bridges 21. Wait approximately one (1) minute for the ventilator and VIK to communicate 22. Click the Refresh on the BridgeTech display in Chrome and the information will be visible...
