    XIV. CRANKCASE HEAT (OPTIONAL) Crankcase heat is not required on scroll type compressors, but may be necessary for difficult starting situations. XV. PRE-START CHECK 1. Is unit properly located and slightly slanted toward indoor condensate drain? 2. Is ductwork insulated, weatherproofed, with proper spacing to combustible materi- als? 3.
  • Page 19: Auxiliary Heat

    IMPORT NT: The compressor has an internal overload protector. Under some condi- tions, it can take up to 2 hours for this overload to reset. Make sure overload has had time to reset before condemning the compressor. Some units are equipped with a time delay control (TDC1). The control allows the blower to operate for up to 90 seconds after the thermostat is satisfied.
  • Page 20 DEFROST TERMINATION Once a defrost is initiated, the defrost will continue until fourteen minutes has elapsed or the coil temperature has reached the terminate temperature. The termi- nate temperature is factory set at 70°F, although the temperature can be changed to 50°F, 60°F, 70°F or 80°F by relocating a jumper on the board.
