Chapter 2: Installation

2.5 Installing the Transom Mount Transducer

Preparation

Transducer Mounting Bracket
When installed, the lower surface of the transducer should tilt down toward
the rear at a slight angle (2° to 5°). The mounting bracket includes a wedge;
depending on the angle of the transom on your boat, you may need to install
this wedge to get the correct transducer angle.
1. To attach the transducer to the bracket, insert the transducer mounting lugs
into the slot in the bracket as shown in Figure 2-10.

2. Looking at the rear of the boat, be sure the bracket is vertical (perpendicu-
lar to the water line) and hold the bracket (plus the wedge, if used) against
the transom.
Trace the position of the screw slots, then mark the screw positions as
shown in Figure 2-11. The outer two screws should be placed about 1/4"
(6 mm) up from the bottom of each slot, the center screw should be placed
about 1/4" (6 mm) down from the top. This will allow the bracket to be
adjusted up or down.
Remove the bracket.
Correct alignment
Insert screws 1 and 3, 6.4 mm (1/4 in)
from the bottom of the slots, and
screw 2, 6.4 mm (1/4 in) from the top
the slot to allow room for adjustment.
Incorrect alignment
If screws are inserted this way it
won't be possible to make the
height adjustment.
