Note: For more information about Windows limitations,
please visit the Microsoft Knowledge Base and review
the following documents: Q303013 for Windows XP and
Q305098 for Windows 2000. Windows XP Media Center and
XP tablet PC already include Service Pack 1 and 48-bit LBA
support. Windows 2000 requires the registry to be edited
after Service Pack 3 is installed. Failure to add the registry
patch will result in data loss when accessing the drive
beyond 137GB.
Installation Guide
SATA host drivers
All SATA hosts support 48-bit BIOS and require
drivers that will allow the hard drive to be seen
by the OS. During the installation, your OS will
request mass storage drivers.
The drivers can usually be found on a CD or
web site of the system, motherboard, or add-in
SATA host manufacturer. Be sure to have the
latest drivers available for your OS during the
installation process.
