Start the virtual machine, if not already started.
When you start the VM, the IPv4 address of the ThinkAgile Installer is displayed in the VM console

Start the ThinkAgile Installer from your web browser by navigating to the IPv4 address that is
shown in the VM console.
Running the ThinkAgile Installer
The ThinkAgile Installer is designed to simplify the deployment of a VMware vSAN cluster for ThinkAgile VX.
You can use the ThinkAgile Installer to deploy the vSAN cluster to an existing vCenter instance, or to install a
vCenter instance and deploy a vSAN cluster on a new instance.
The ThinkAgile Installer is deployed as a separate virtual machine.
Note: You can deploy the installer on a separate host, or you can deploy the installer on one of the hosts to
be added to the VSAN cluster.
When deploying a new vCenter instance, the installer first deploys vCenter. After the deployment has been
completed, the installer then creates a vSAN cluster. If vCenter cannot be successfully deployed, the vSAN
deployment is not started.
Before you begin
Collect the following information:
• Static IPv4 address to assign to a dedicated vSAN VMKernal adapter on each ESXi host that is to be
added to the VSAN cluster
• Hostname, static IPv4 address, gateway, netmask, DNS server, and credentials for the ESXi hosts that are
to be used to deploy the VSAN
• VM data network to which to attach the vCenter
• Data store to deploy the VM for vCenter
• User name and password for the vCenter that you want to deploy
Ensure that you meet the following prerequisites before running the ThinkAgile Installer
• All hosts must be powered on and connected to a network that is reachable from the host where the
ThinkAgile Installer is located.
• Each host must have an IPv4 address. You can use a DHCP sever to assign IP addresses, or you can
assign a static IP address through ESXi.
• The vCenter deployment must use a static IPv4 address. Deployment with DHCP is a current known
limitation.
• The static IP addresses must not be used by other resources.
• The vCenter name must be unique (must not already exist). The fully qualified hostname must also be
unique.
• The name of the new vCenter must be set to the same value as the hostname of the vCenter and the site
name for the deployment (for example, vcsa08.thinkagile.com).
• If the baseboard the management controller is connected to a separate management network, then the
ThinkAgile Installer must be connected to both the ESXi server network and the separate management
network; otherwise, the ThinkAgile Installer cannot retrieve the machine type and serial number for the
ESXi server.
• Networking:
– If there are only two uplinks, vnic0 and vnic1 are assigned to vSwitch0.
