Starting up your SONUS
To turn on your instrument press and hold the Power On/Off key
for approximately
one second. (Your meter will display the start-up screen and initialise any saved settings.)
To Calibrate using a Castle Calibrator (GA601 or GA607) attach the calibrator to the
microphone, press the MENU key and use the    arrow keys as required until CAL is on
screen. Press OK twice and the instrument will calibrate to the level of the calibrator
(default 94dB), displaying COMPLETE when finished.
Choosing the Measuring Mode
The Castle SONUS will measure specifically for Noise @ Work, Environmental or ALL
parameters. To select one of these press MENU then use    arrow keys until screen
shows MODE, then press OK and use    arrow keys to select desired mode. Press OK to
select, so the screen briefly shows DONE. Press MENU or C to return to measuring
screen.

Taking a Measurement

To start recording, press the STOP/RECORD Key
so the display briefly shows REC
MODE. You can review the parameters using    arrow keys during recording
When ready to stop, press
again, so the display shows SAVE YES. If you don't want to
save, press C key. To save, press OK.
If the instrument has been set to User Mode = ENV then the log is automatically saved
otherwise the following will be displayed: -

Enter an Exposure Time period

Use Measurement Run Time period (Log Length)
Exposure Time entry uses the following 24 hour format (hh:mm:ss) and the adjustable
figure flashes, this always starts with the HOUR figure.
Reviewing measurements
Press the MENU key then use the   arrow keys until screen displays 'LOGS' (If no logs
are available this option is not shown).
Press OK and the instrument will display the currently saved logs in date order.
Scroll through the available dates using the   arrow keys.
Press C to exit without selection or OK to confirm the selection, the instrument will then
display the currently saved logs by time recorded.
Scroll through the available times using the   arrow keys.
Press C to exit without selection and return to the date list or OK to confirm the selection,
the instrument will then view the saved cumulative information for the log selected.
Scroll through the available data using the   arrow keys.
Press C to exit and return to the parameter display screen when required.
