complete.
INSTALLATION
CAUTION
Do not short out terminals on gas valve or primary
control. Short or incorrect wiring may damage the
thermostat.
MOUNTING AND WIRING
All wldng should be installed according to local and national
electrlcai codes and ordlnances.
The confd must be secured to an area that will experience a
mlnlmum ol vibration and remaln below the maximum ambient
temperature ratlng of 175"F. The control ls approved for mlnl-
mum amblent temperatures of -40'F.
When mountlng the control, any orientatlon ls acceptable.
Choose a locatlon that wlll not damage, obstruct or place stress
on the control's terminatlons, system wiring harness or system
components. After flnding a suitable locatlon, drill four (4) 1ie"
holes for mountlng control. To ensure proper mounting hole
locauons, there ls a mounting hole template on page 8 of this
instrucdon sheet. Detach the page wlth the template from the
instructlon sheet and apply it to the mounting locatlon. When
drilling the holes, take care so that the transformer, wiring
hamess orothersystem components are not damaged. Four (4)
#8 sheet metal screws are provided to complete the installation.
Refer to the wirlng diagram and wiring table when connecting
the 50A55 control to other components of the system.
UL approved, 105"C rated 18 gauge, stranded, zie." thick insula-
tion wlre ls recommended for all bw voltage satety circuit
connections. Refer lo 50A55 spe<ittcaton sheel for re'cotn-
mended terminals to rnate wifi fto€e on the control.
UL approved 't05"C rat€d 16 gatqe mh., stmnded, aie." thlck
insulaton wtre ls recsnmendd for all llne voltage connectlons.
Refer to 50A,45 spedficaton sheet for recommended terminals
to mate wtth those on the control.
fiftednstallatlon or replacement, follow appllance manufacturer's
recommended installation or service instructions to ensure
proper operation.
The 50A45 has only one servlceaHe parHn automotre tlpe
fuse, whlch protects f|e bw r/oltage transformer from damage
if lts output ls short-clrculted. lf the fuse has opened up, remove
whatever caused the short clrcult and replace the fuse wlth only
a 3 Amp automotive type fuse. lf the fuse ls not the cause of the
control's problem, replace the entlre 50A55 control. There are
no other user serviceable parts.
Additional jumper wlres are included in this package and
should be used if the orlginal wirlng does not reach the control
after mountlng. Refer to the furnace wiring diagram for proper
connection of the wlres.
Amana/Goodman application - An additlonal wirlng harness
(WR 1 15-0223) is included in this package. lf the control being
replaced has a 2-pln (inducer/ignitor) connector, this wiring
harness wlll adapt the furnace wlring to the 4-pln connector of
the replacement control.
Trane application - Jumper wire 151-2906 (provided with
control) must be installed on the furnace from R01 to R02 of the
12-pin connector.
