Drilling in metal
Punch a small hole in the metal to prevent
the bit from skittering when starting to
drill

hole.
Use cutting lubricant on
drilling if necessary.

Pressing down too hard on the
tool
will not speed up the drilling. In fact, this undue pres-
sure will only serve to damage the tip of your drill bit, decrease your drilling performance
and shorten the service life of the tool.
There is

tremendous force exerted on the tool/bit

Grip the drill firmly and exert care when the bit begins to break through the material.
Drilling in wood
In drilling holes in wood using
a
wood drill with a guide screw, there i s
no
need to bear
down on the tool. The guide screw makes
it
bore naturally by itself.
