    Overview The IBM System Storage DS4000 EXP420 storage expansion enclosure (Machine Type 1812, Models 8VA and 8VH) provides high-capacity, SATA disk interface storage. The storage expansion enclosure delivers fast, high-volume data transfer, retrieval, and storage functions for multiple drives to multiple hosts.

Two additional IBM 4 Gbps SFP modules are required to connect the EXP420 to more than one DS4000 storage expansion enclosure as part of a multiple DS4000 storage expansion enclosure and storage subsystem configuration.
