The relevant laws, regulations and standards for ma-
chine room piping and for heat pump systems must
also be observed.
- In the heating return, before the heat pump, it is
essential to install a dirt trap. Depending on the
water quality it is recommended to fi t an additional
silt trap.
- Safety devices and expansion devices for closed
heating systems according to EN 12828 must be
fi tted.
- Pipe dimensions must conform to the required
fl ow volumes (see section 2.6, Technical data,
page 8 cont.).
- The charging pump is not included in the scope of
delivery. The recommended charging pump must
be installed on-site in the heat pump fl ow.
- Connection hoses supplied for the heat pump fl ow
and return lines must always be installed. The con-
nection hoses can be cut to the required length, but
not shorter than 60 cm. In addition, the connection
hoses must not be bent.
- Venting options should be fi tted at the highest points
of the connection lines, and draining options at the
lowest points.
- To avoid heat loss, connection lines should be insu-
lated using suitable material.

Oxygen diffusion
With plastic pipe underfl oor heating or open heating
systems which are not diffusion-tight, corrosion may
occur on steel parts when using steel pipes, steel
radiators or storage tanks due to oxygen diffusion.
Corrosion products can be deposited in the condenser
and may cause heating losses in the heat pump or
high-pressure faults.
For this reason, open heating systems or steel pipe
installations in combination with plastic pipe under-
fl oor heating which is not diffusion-tight should be
avoided.
Heating water quality
Depending on the quality of the heating water, lime
scale may occur (adherent coating primarily consisting
of calcium carbonate) on heat exchanger surfaces in
particular, i.e. with a high proportion of calcium hydro-
gen carbonate there is an increased risk of lime scale
forming.
For fi lling heating systems, very clear guidelines apply
relating to the heating water quality. Specifi cally, Eu-
ropean standard EN 12 828, ÖNORM H 5195 and in
particular VDI Guideline no. 2034-1 must be observed
and represent the current state of art.
You must also check the pH value of the heating wa-
ter; it should be between 8 and 9.5.
