18-2-2 Alternator system
Failure
Cannot be charged.
Insufficient charge
Overcharge
Noise
Fuse melts.
Cause
- Cords between terminals are
disconnected or connectors are in
loose connection.
- Improper earth conection
- Brush and slip ring do not contact.
- Coil is disconnected or burnt.
- Diode is damaged.
- Loose connection of cords
between each terminal
- Fan belt slips.
- Improper contact or insufficient
movement of brush and slip ring
- Short-circuit of coil
- Defective diode
- Defective alternator
- Wrong installation
- Defective fan belt
- Defective bearing
- Diodes on (+) and (-) sides broke
down.
- Capacitor broke down.
- Alternator internal short-circuited

Remedy
Reconnect cord-tighten
connections.
Make good earth conections.
Connect or replace
Replace

Tighten connections.
Adjust.
Clean slip ring and brush holder.
