PROBLEM SOLVING

We do not expect you to have any problems with your TAD-1006, but if you do, try
these suggestions. If the TAD-1006 still does not operate as you think it should,
take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.
Problem
The TAD records a dial
tone, siren, beeping, or
an operator's voice
instead of the caller's
message.
The TAD does not
answer calls.
The outgoing
announcement
is distorted.
The TAD does not play
the outgoing
announcement you
recorded.
30
Cause
The caller hung up without
leaving a message or without
using the maximum time, and
your local telephone com-
pany does not send out CPC
signals.
The phone line is not properly
connected.
The TAD is not plugged into
power.
The TAD is not set to answer
calls.
You were too close to the TAD
or you spoke too loudly when
recording the announcement.
There was too much back-
ground noise in the room
when you recorded the
announcement.
The outgoing announcement
is less than 2 seconds long.
Remedy
Press
(or 9
NEXT
remotely) to play the
next message.
Check all phone line
connections.
Make sure the AC
adapter is properly
connected to the
TAD and to power.
Press
so the
ON/OFF
ANSWER indicator
turns on.
Re-record the
announcement,
speaking in a normal
tone of voice about
12 inches from the
TAD.
Re-record the
announcement.
Record a new outgo-
ing announcement
that is at least 2 sec-
onds, but no more
than 1 minute long.
