FAN BELT
Every 6,000 miles inspect fan belt for wear, fraying,
cracking and tension. Belt should be retightened
only when it deflects more than
V2"
with mod-
erate thumb pressure applied midway between
pulleys.
DISTRIBUTOR CAM LUBRICATOR
4 and 6-Cylinder Engine
Rotate cam lubricator 180
0
at 12,000 mile intervals
-replace at 24,000 mile intervals.
a-Cylinder Engine
Change cam lubricator end for end at 12,000 mile
intervals. Replace at 24,000 mile intervals.
AIR CLEANER*
Polyurethane Type
Every 12,000 miles-Clean element in suitable sol-
.
vent such as kerosene, squeeze out all solvent,
then soak in engine oil and squeeze
out.
Wrap
in clean, dry cloth to squeeze out excess oil.
Paper Element Type
First 12,000 miles inspect or test element; if satisfac-
tory, re-use element but recheck every 6,000
miles
until
replaced. Element must not be
washed, oiled, tapped, or cleaned with an air
hose.
Flame Arrestor
Every 12,000 miles-Clean the arrestor (located in
the base of the air cleaner) with kerosene or a
suitable solvent. Dry with compressed air.
FUEL FILTER
Replace filter element, located in carburetor inlet,
if carburetor flooding occurs.
ENGINE OIL CHANGE*
Engine oil should be changed at 60 day or 6,000
mile intervals, whichever comes first.
Crankcase Breather Cap
At every oil change-Clean in solvent and reoil.
NOTE:
For vehicles in heavy duty operation involving contInu-
ous start-stop or prolonged idling, engine oil should be changed
after 2500-3000 miles of operation. The filter should be
changed after 5000-6000 miles of operation.
OIL FILTER*
6,000 miles or every six months, whichever comes
first-Change filter element. (See NOTE above.)
CRANKCASE VENTILATION
Valve Type*
At every oil change the valve should be tested for
proper function and replaced when necessary.
Fixed Orifice Type*
Check every 6,000 miles or at every oil change. If
dirty or plugged clear with suitable size drill.
Twist drill by hand to remove any sludge or car-
bon formation.
*Under prolonged dusty driving conditions, it is recommended that these operations be performed more often.
