Installing the System
Connecting Cables to Subscriber Cards
When you have finished mounting all the cards in the system shelf, connect the cables to the subscriber card
ports as described here.
Note: You must first complete the line setup from the Main Distribution Frame (MDF) to the subscriber and the connection between
the subscriber card and the cable. The table lists the requirements of each subscriber card. Refer to it when you install the MDF.
Preparing the Cable
The cables that connect to the cards look like this:
The cable has 50 pins numbered serially from 1 to 50 and each pin is designated for a specific card. For a
detailed description of pin connections, refer to the documentation provided on the DCS Gateway CD-ROM
supplied with your system.
Connecting the Cable
Connect the cable to the backplane board located on the rear of the SMG-3000 system.
1. If the rear cover is closed, remove the two
screws securing it and remove it.
