System Checking & Operation
Checking External Calls
Check that external communication is available.
1. Lift the console handset, press an unused loop-selection key and dial
2. After checking that the subscriber port for the external line becomes
ber.
3. Confirm that the phone number and status of the dialled subscriber are displayed on the LCD and you
can hear the ring back tone.
4. When the call is answered, check the quality of the line.
5. Replace the console handset and confirm that the contents of the LCD are erased.

Checking Operation of Peripherals

Finally, check that peripherals connected to the SMG-3000 system are functioning properly.
Checking Zone Paging
To check Zone Paging:
1. Ensure that the paging hardware is properly installed on the card providing the external line service.
2. Dial the code for paging and the zone number(s). Confirm that you can page over the speaker(s) in the
designated zones.
Checking the Printer
Two types of printer, the system printer and the SMDR printer, may be connected to the SMG-3000 system
(see Chapter 4, Connecting Peripherals). Various alarms and event information can be printed and the in-
formation can be important if problems occur or for monitoring the system's activities. Therefore, be sure to
check the condition of the printer regularly. To check the printer:
1. Perform a printer self-test as described in the user's manual for the printer.
2. Check that the RS-232C cable connecting the printer and the system is properly connected to the 25-pin
connector on the printer and the 25-pin connector on the I/O port on the system.
3. Turn the printer on.
4. To test an SMDR printer, make a call of the type that is designated to be printed out and check that the
call information is printed out correctly.
Shutting Down the System
Caution—There are very few circumstances in which you have to shut down the SMG-3000 system
during operation. If, however, you have to shut down the system for relocation or some other valid
reason, contact your dealer or Samsung Technical Support for advice.
Samsung is not responsible for problems caused by shutting down the SMG-3000 system without expert
help.
You will be guided through the shutdown procedure which involves the following sequence of events:
1. Turn off the switch on the MCPU2 card.
