a buffer,

open
statement

assign

buffer

a particular disk
file

random
access
mode).
Then
use
the
field
statement
to
organize
a
random
file
buffer so

disk storage
and
vice-versa.
Each
random
file
buffer
has
up
to
256
bytes
which
can
store
data
for transfer
from
disk storage
to
basic
or
from
basic
to disk.
(When
variable-length
files
are
used,
maximum
may
be from
1
to
256.)
