In
Example
2 above,
why
does
variable
c
get the
value 0?
When
the
input
reaches
the
end
of
hie,
it
terminates
that
last
data item,
which
then contains
"a
12."
This
is
evaluated
by
a routine
just like the
basic
val
function
which
returns
a zero since
the hrst character
of
"A12"
is
a
non-numeric.
