If electricity
goes off
Ask the power company
how long it will be off.
1. If sewice
IS
to be interrupted
less than 24 hours,
keep
the doors
closed.
Most food will stay
frozen
2. If sewice is to be interrupted
more than 24 hours:
[a) Store all frozen food in a frozen food locker
(b) Ike
2 Ibs. (0.9 kg) of dry ice in freezer for
every cu. ft. of freezer space. This WIII keep
frozen foods for 2 to 4 days. Wear gloves for
protection.
(c] If neither food storage locker nor dry ice is
available,
use or can perishable
food at
once.
3. A full freezer will stay cold longer than a partly
filled one. Meat stays colder longer than baked
goods. If food contains
ice crystals, it may be
safely refrozen, although
the quality and flavor
may be affected
Use refrozen foods first. If you
have any doubts
about
the condition
of the
food, dtspose of it
4. When the power
comes
back
on, the TOO
WARM Symbol may come on. See pages 6 and
7 for information
