Tighten the packing gland only until it slightly
weeps water.
A packing gland that is too tight will
create excess friction on the soundome
tube, binding or stopping the hoist.
Operation Check Procedure
7.1
For maximum system performance, follow these
steps before returning your vessel to the water:
7.1.1 Be sure there is enough room beneath
the boat to lower the soundome.
7.1.2 Turn off power to the hoist system and
console.
7.1.3 Disconnect the upper hoist limit switch
wire (blue) from Terminal 27 on the
hoist board.
Once this is disconnected, the hoist will
only move down when performing Step
7.1.7.
7.1.4 Disconnect the +12VDC wire of the
interconnect cable from Terminal 2 on
the hoist board.
DO NOT let this wire touch any other
terminal, wire, or ship's ground.
7.1.5 When performing the next steps, do not
let the hoist safety clamp press into the
packing gland when the motor is run-
ning. This could damage the hoist as-
sembly.
7.1.6 Make sure wires from Terminal 2 and
Terminal 27 are not touching any other
wire.
Turn on the hoist and console, and push
down the HOIST Switch on the console
front panel.
