SEACHEST FLANGE
For metal seachests, the seachest flange must
be made of the same material as the seachest
and welded to the seachest pipe.
See Pages 2-8 through 2-10 for flange
dimensions.

INSTALLATION POSITION
The seachest must be perpendicular to the
water line.
Attach the seachest to the hull with
standard shipyard procedures. Support
the seachest with gussets or stringers to
minimize vibration.
The bottom of the seachest must be 1cm (.5
inches) above the bottom of the keel.
6.0
FAIRING
This section only applies to seachests that ex-
tend outside the hull.
Build a 1 meter long fairing around the
seachest
to
reduce
bubbles at high speeds.
Turbulence and air bubbles reduce sonar
performance.
For seachest installations next to the keel,
run fairing from the seachest to the keel in
front and behind.
For
installations away from the keel, place
fairing completely around the seachest.
