Refer to Figure 34
disassembly
1. Remove all items beginning on page 14.
2. Remove the axle tube (165).
3. Remove the retaining ring (90).
4. Remove and discard the lip seal (96).
5. Remove the spacer (164).
6. Remove the axle shaft (94) in the direction
of arrow.
6. Remove the bearing (95).
NOTE: Remove the bearing from the axle shaft
only if worn or damaged.

inspection
1. Inspect the splines on the axle shaft for wear
or damage. Replace if necessary.
2. Inspect the bearing (95) for wear or damage.
Replace if necessary.
assembly
1. Assemble items in reverse order of disas-
sembly.
NOTE: To protect the lip seal from possible

damage when installing into the bore
and over the axle shaft, apply a protec-
tive covering over the splines, sharp
corners and/or keyway of the axle shaft
(e.g., cellophane, tape, etc.).
