To remove the power elevating footrests on an Invacare TDX SP2 to access dead batteries:

1. Remove the side-mounted legrests if fitted.
2. If a centrally-fitted, manually adjustable legrest is present, turn the spindle to move it to the top position.
3. Remove the thumbscrews securing the front shroud/battery retention bracket to the wheelchair.
4. Lift up to unhook and remove the front shroud/battery retention bracket from the wheelchair.

This provides access to the batteries.
