Description

La-plus series

This series consists of self-powered models: La-8 plus A, La-12 plus A and La-115S
plus A and the passive models: La-8 plus P, La-12 plus P and La-115S plus P. The
two versions share the same Dual-Driver technology for better phase coherence, as
well as Carbon-Fiber membrane speakers. These technologies are not incorporated
into the La-115S plus A and P subwoofers.
The self-powered version combines the benefits of internal amplification, digital
signal processing (DSP), Dual-Driver Technology and carbon-fiber membrane. The
entire system has been designed for maximum performance, with a frequency
response which is linear and constant, combined with a great capacity for power
and dynamic range.
A major concern while developing this series has been the use of reliable elements
throughout the system. Therefore, we have sought out the dependable components
of the highest quality, even though this requires a greater investment in
development and manufacture.
Dual-Driver Technology in the La-Plus series.
The Dual-Driver speaker presents a smooth, less problematic transition between
the high pass and the low pass, than that presented by the conventional two-way
system. This fact is related to the phase differences between compression driver
and speaker: in a two-way system, the distance between the two units causes a
phase difference to exist between the high and low frequencies, as we move
upwards or downwards away from the central axis. In the transition region between
the HF and LF, where the responses from the two passes overlap, these phase
differences produce distorted interferences, whose magnitude depends on the
relative point of listening as regards to the speakers.
A Dual-Driver speaker consists of two speakers mounted on the same axis. The
tweeter unit is mounted at the back of the woofer unit core and is coupled to a
small diffuser that is positioned in the woofer cone.
In a Dual-Driver speaker the frequency response of the loudspeaker is symmetrical
around its axis. This means that the frequency response observed in a given angle
will be symmetrical to the angle in the opposite direction.
The most important advantage of the Dual-Driver is that the crossover transition is
undetectable.
