Starter Rope - MTD Series 400 Operator's Manual

Starter Rope

1. Disconnect the spark plug boot from the spark plug (refer
to the Engine Operator's Manual).
2. Pivot the control handle against the upper handle and pull
the rope out of the engine.
3. Loop the rope through the eye bolt. See Figure 3-5.
4. Tighten the eye bolt to the handle using the lock nut. DO
NOT overtighten.

Grass Catcher
1. Follow steps below to assemble the grass catcher.
a. Push the handle into top channel of upper catcher.
b. Install bottom catcher into upper clips.

2. F ollow steps below to attach the grass catcher.
a . Lift rear discharge door.
b . Place grass catcher hooks onto the rear door pivot
and press them to ensure they sit in place as
shown in Fig 3-7. Let go of discharge door so that
it rests on the grass catcher.
