Temperature Control-
The
"TEMP"
control (lower lever on heater
control
panel)
is
a
thermostatic control similar in operation to the
thennostatic
controls
found
on
automatic oil or gas hot air fur-
naces.
To maintain .the desired temperature inside the car the
"TEMP"
control automatically regulates the flow of hot
water
to
the heater. This makes it unnecessary to change the setting of the
"TEMP"
lever
once
it
is
adjusted
to produce a
comfortable
tempera-
ture in the car. Even though the car has been standing in the cold it
is not necessary to move the "TEMP"
lever,
because this setting
will produce as much heat as
"HIGH"
while bringing the air tem-
perature up to the setting.
Air Control-
The air that is heated and circulated through the car
is outside air drawn into the car; the Venti-Heat System does not
recirculate
stale
air. The "AIR" control (upper lever on heater con-
trol
panel)
regulates the entry of
outside
air through the underseat
unit and defroster unit. Moving the lever to the "OFF" position
closes
the
air valves. Moving the
lever
to
either
the "NORMAL"
or
"DE-ICE"
position opens the air valves. The "AIR" control lever
should be
left
in the "NORMAL" position both in
summer
and
winter, except when de-icing is needed.
De-icing
Windshield-Moving the
"AIR"
control lever to
the
"DE-ICE"
position forces heated outside air through the windshield
defroster and defroster ducts to clear the
windshield
of
ice.
With the
lever
in this position there is also a sufficient amount of warm air
from the underseat heater to maintain the desired temperature inside
the car.
After de-icing is completed move control lever to "NORMAL" posi-
tion. In this position, fogging of the windshield and car windows is
prevented and cool outside air is supplied at the breathing level. This
adds to passenger comfort when the underseat heater
is
on or when
it is necessary to keep the car windows closed.
