TRIMMING TIPS

WARNING:
TO AVOID INJURY, DO NOT CARRY THE TRIMMER WITH YOUR FINGER ON THE SWITCH. AVOID
UNINTENTIONAL STARTING.
Before Trimming
• IMPORTANT! Lubricate the blade with light machine oil. Ignoring this step and omitting blade lubrication will
decrease blade life and cause difficult operation. (See the Maintenance section)
During Trimming
• Before starting the hedge trimmer, hold the handles with both hands.
• Keep the blade facing away from you.
• Wear gloves when trimming thorny or prickly growth.
• When trimming new growth, swing the hedge trimmer in a wide sweeping action.
• Move the hedge trimmer to feed the branches directly into the blade cutting edges.
• When trimming thicker, older stems and branches, cut with a sawing action.
• If stems are thicker than 3/8" use a non-powered handsaw or pruning saw.
• Do not try to cut stems that are too large to feed into the cutting blade.
To help keep the hedge level (Fig. 3)
• Measure the height you want the hedge.
• Stretch a string along the hedge at that height.
• Trim the hedge just above the string guideline.
