My pre amp has 5x ECC83 and 1x 7025/ 12AX7WA...why 6 six tubes? I want to change it, do I have to use the same tubes? The manual shows 4x ECC83 tubes
The Engl Sovereign 100 preamp has six tubes because it includes both preamp and power amp tubes. The manual lists four ECC83 (12AX7) tubes for the preamp (V5–V8) and four 6L6GC or 5881 tubes for the power amp (V1–V4).
