FM/AM tuning

This unit offers several methods for tuning FM/AM radio stations, such as auto tuning, manual tuning, and preset tuning.
Follow the procedures below to tune your favorite radio stations.

• Examples of the front panel display in this section are based on the U.K. and Europe models.
• To increase the quality of the FM sound under the weak radio wave, press and hold e on the remote control to automatically change
the FM radio wave reception mode of this unit to the monaural mode.
To switch the frequency step
(General model only)
Because the interstation frequency spacing differs in
different areas, you may need to switch the frequency
step mode. The default step setting is AM 9 kHz/FM
50 kHz.
Switching frequency step in North, Central and
South America: AM 10 kHz/FM 100 kHz

In the standby mode, press and hold both
SOUND and INPUT on the front panel.

Press and hold STANDBY/ON on the front
panel for 4 seconds or longer.
The frequency step mode will be set to AM 10 kHz/
FM 100 kHz.

To switch back the frequency step to default, follow steps 1 and 2
above.

Tuning radio stations
automatically (Auto tuning)
If the radio wave reception is strong in your area, auto
tuning is a quick and useful way to tune the radio stations.

Press INPUT on the front panel repeatedly to
select FM or AM.

Press MODE repeatedly until "TUNING
MODE" appears, and immediately rotate
MULTI JOG quickly.
This unit automatically detects radio stations that
have strong signals for your selection, and
automatically ends auto tuning.

To cancel auto tuning, push MULTI JOG.
Tuning radio stations manually
(Manual tuning)
If the radio wave reception is weak in your area, you can
tune radio stations manually.

Press INPUT on the front panel repeatedly to
select FM or AM.

Press MODE repeatedly until "TUNING
MODE" appears, and immediately rotate
MULTI JOG slowly.
Stop rotating MULTI JOG when your desired radio
station is detected.
