Maintenance

Cleaning display screen
Dust or dirt on the display screens of equipment may be removed with a soft cloth. Do
not use chemical cleaners, they may remove paint and markings.
Cleaning floppy disk drives
The heads in the floppy disk drive of the IC-215 and IB-583 should be cleaned regu-
larly to prevent damage to floppy disks. Use a cleaning floppy disk. (FURUNO can
supply a cleaning floppy disk. It is type MCD-2-1K, code no. 000-116-420.)
1. Insert a cleaning floppy disk in the drive.
2. Execute Format operation (in the F1 menu). The access lamp on the drive lights.
3. Wait until the access lamp goes off. Remove the disk. (Error message for format-
ting appears on the screen.)

Turn the power on (│) or off (O).
Open to replace the ink ribbon cartridge; clear the paper jam. Keep
the cover closed in normal operations.
Control the printer functions (see the next section).
Eject the paper manually. Clears a paper jam. Do not operate in the
Online mode.
Releases paper to straighten or remove it.
