1 Connecting a Printer

Preparing what are needed

• Printer
Prepare a printer designed for Windows.
• Printer driver
A driver should be included with your printer.
If several CDs are included with your printer, refer to your printer's instruction manual and select
the CD designed for the version of Windows you are using. In some cases, you may download
the latest version of driver from the Web site of your printer manufacturer.
• Printer cable
Used to connect your printer to the computer. Prepare a USB cable that can be plugged into a
USB port of your computer.
• Instruction manual for your printer
Ways to connect and set up printers vary from printer to printer. So be sure to read your printer's
instruction manual, too.
Connecting a printer
This section explains how to plug a printer cable into a USB port on your computer.
1. Insert one plug of the printer cable into a USB port on the right side of your computer.
Insert the plug with the face marked with facing to the top.
2. If this is for the first time your have connected your printer, install the driver.
