to recognize and identify the machine malfunction to be corrected.
- At times a malfunction is generated by more than one cause: it is
important in such cases to isolate the faults and deal with them one at a
time.
4.1.4. FINDING THE CAUSE
Using experience together with the information given in this section as a
guide, take a logical path to find the fault, starting from the most probable
cause through, to the most possibility until malfunction part is found.
4.1.5. SOLVING THE PROBLEM
Repair the machine so that it correctly resumes to operating as normal.

4.2. FAULT CLASSIFICATION

To make the search easier, the faults have been classified as follows:
- 4.3 Power-on faults
- 4.4 Document printout faults
- 4.5 Document handling faults
Each fault classification lists the more probable failures and their possible
causes.
The classification provided in this chapter cannot cover all the faults that
could occur on the machine: if the fault detected is not described herein,
refer to the description of a similar fault.
