    INSTALLING BATTERIES – – 1. On the back of the remote control, push down on the door (as shown), slide the battery cover off, and re- move the used batteries. 2. Obtain two (2) new AA alkaline batteries. Match their + and - marks to the + and - marks in the battery case, then insert them.

    CONTROLLING YOUR TV Once you have successfully setup your DIRECTV Re- mote to operate your DIRECTV Receiver, you can set it up to control your TV. We recommend you use the on- screen steps described on page 9, but you can also use the manual method below: 1.

    RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS To reset all the functions of the remote control to the factory defaults (the original, out-of-the-box settings), follow these steps: 1. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT keys at the same time until the green light fl ashes twice, then re- lease both keys.

    Light at the top of the remote blinks when you press a key, but the component does not respond. SOLUTION 1: Try replacing the batteries (see page 8). SOLUTION 2: Make sure you are aiming the DIRECTV ® Uni- versal Remote Control at your home entertain- ment component and that you are within 15 feet of the component you are trying to control.
