Chapter 9: No service

Pre-check
In case that it is not possible to establish a call with your phone, the first thing you always should
do is to perform all RF-calibrations. If for example TX-power is not measurable or too low, continue
with the chapter: "No or too low TX-power". If the RX does not work, continue with the
corresponding chapter "Receiver does not work". If RX and TX do not work, check parts, which are
needed for both signal pathes, e.g. oscillator G500 or RF-chip N500.
In case you have only problems with the assembled phone (e.g. poor receiver sensitivity) whereas
there seems to be no problem when the same module is tested in the service-jig, especially check
the RF-connector X822 if mechanical damaged or soiled. In case of doubt exchange X822 and retest
the phone.

No or too low TX-power

First of all use Phoenix to set the phone to local mode and activate TX-burstmode Ch. 37.
Check the TX-signal 897.4MHz at resistor R717
with an analyzer:
If already this signal is not measurable, most probably there is a problem with the RF-chip N500 or
a baseband problem. In this case continue with chapter "RF-chip/baseband problem".
If the signal shown above is ok, most probably there is a problem with the power amplifier or the
antenna switch module. In this case continue on next page.
