Chapter 4: Insert SIM card

Pre-check
The first thing to do if the phone does not recognize an inserted SIM card is to check that the card
in use is not dirty or damaged. In case of doubt use another card for verification. Also ensure that
the SIM card reader X820 is not dirty, or has damaged spring contacts; if necessary exchange the
connector. If all the above mentioned does not solve the problem, follow the repair instructions:

Electrical faults
If the pre-check gives no solution to the problem, check whether the SIM -lines are pulsed to
1.8V/3V using an oscilloscope:
The upper signal of the above shown screenshot marked as "without SIM" must be visible at all
four SIM lines. The appearance slightly deviates between the different lines; but the amplitude
always is 1.8V/3V. If the signal is missing on one or more lines, most probably there is an
interruption inside R310. Exchange part and retest the phone. In case exchanging R310 does not
solve the problem, usually UEME is responsible for the problem. Due to underfilling of D250, this
part is not changeable.
