AUDIENCE
This manual is written for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that are
integrating this Quantum DLT™ family tape system into a system or subsystem. Its
primary audience is the OEM technical staff that makes tape system purchase and
configuration decisions, and system integrators that are responsible for the SCSI
interface. Additionally, the manual can be used by technically astute end-users for
installation and operation of the tape system, although that is a secondary audience.
PURPOSE
This manual describes the DLT 8000 Tape System. It is intended to provide the
information necessary to integrate the tape system into a computer system or
subsystem.
DOCUMENT ORGANIZATION
This product manual contains five chapters, a number of appendixes of related useful
information, and an index. It includes an overview of the Small Computer System
Interface (SCSI) and detailed descriptions of the messages and SCSI commands as
used by the tape system. The manual is organized as follows:
Chapter 1 General Description and Specifications
This chapter contains a brief description of and specifications for the
system.
Chapter 2 Configuration and Installation
This chapter contains information on system hardware and system
interfaces.
